Patrick Mkansi was born in Buffelshoek in the northern sector of the Sabi Sand and attended school locally, close to the Manyeleti Game Reserve. After school he went to work in the mines, but his heart was always close to nature, so he then undertook a tracker's course in the southern Sabi Sand.

Patrick was first employed as a tracker in a private game reserve where he gained much valuable experience before moving to Savanna in 1998. After many years as a tracker, he became a game ranger in 2007. Patrick thoroughly enjoys his work and especially his interaction with guests, who love his sense of humour and respect his deep and innate knowledge of the African bush.

Patrick’s graduation from tracker to outstanding game ranger has been so successful that he is now much in demand and receives constant requests from repeat guests.
